The NSW South Coast is a unique, almost undiscovered, and thankfully underdeveloped part of the Australian coast. This, despite bordering Australia’s biggest city, Sydney, and hosting the continents's ninth largest urban area, Wollongong. This area is a haven for the sensitive painter, author, poet, musician, surfer or environmentalist. People like artists Ken Taber, Maynard Waters, John Sharman, Grace Paleg and Ian Lakey, all residents of this fragile coastal region, reduce this natural beauty to their two-dimensional canvas, board and paper for this exhibition. |

| The
festival begins on Saturday at 2pm with the Stan Coster Memorial Australian
Bush Ballad Award being held at 8pm. Sunday
is non stop music from 10am to 6pm. The event also flows into the town
with busking in the street on Saturday, a bush poet’s breakfast and
entertainment at various venues in the village leading up to the weekend
at the showground. When Jim Snow opened the first Bungendore Country Muster in 1986 he predicted a great future for the festival and he got it right. The Bungendore Country Muster has continued and in 2006 celebrated its 21st birthday and each year it continues to go from strength to strength. The Muster is unique in that it is the only “all Australian” country music festival in Australia and has a core policy of existing for the betterment and benefit of the Bungendore community and Australian country music. All money raised during the festival goes to the local community and on improving the facilities for patrons. The festival is held at the local show ground and over the years the Muster Committee has made improvements with the building of a permanent stage, water tanks and in 2007 assisted with the local community in the installation of an eight cubicle shower block. With the patrons enjoying the atmosphere of staying at the showgrounds this was a much needed improvement. |

The
Festival of Braidwood is held on the first Saturday in May each year
and is a celebration of Braidwood and district’s heritage and culture,
from the earliest settlers through the gold rush years, federation and
to the present. The district was discovered by Europeans in the 1820’s
and settled in the late 1820’s and 1830’s. The village of Braidwood,
named after Dr. Thomas Braidwood Wilson, a highly respected pioneer of
the district, was gazetted in 1839. |

| Welcome to Weereewa: A Festival of Lake George. The festival is held in autumn every two years to celebrate the unique landscape and spirit of the Weereewa Lake George region. Our aim is to celebrate, conserve and share this awe-inspiring place through arts and community events. This may be an off-road bike ride, dance performance on the lake bed, a scientific forum on sustainable agriculture, a satirical cabaret at the bowling club, kite-making workshops for the very young, or a concert in the local church. We aim to be carbon neutral through several ventures, tree planting, using recycled materials, the Farmers’ Market and Weereewa on the Menu program, both celebrating the great local produce and wines of our area plus encouraging carbon free bike riding! |
