Ring Bungendore Police first and if no-one is available, the phone will automatically connect through to the Queanbeyan Police. Officers are responsible for large rural areas and as a result are very mobile. Our officers are supported from the Queanbeyan Station by our specialist teams which include General Duties, Detectives, Communications, Forensics, Highway Patrol and Target Action Groups as well as two Rural Investigators (detectives designated to investigate rural crime such as stock theft, etc). A key factor to effective policing is strong community involvement whereby we rely on co-operation and communication from the community to provide the information required to effect early crime prevention, intervention and arrests.

Contact Council for up to date water restrictions information. Level 2 Water Restrictions are currently in place for those connected to the Bungendore water supply scheme. Level 2 Restirctions for Bungendore Village include: * The use of fixed hoses and sprinklers is banned at all times except between the hours of 9:00am - 11:00am and 6:30pm - 8:00pm each day * Hand held hoses and drip irrigation systems may be used at any time * The emptying and refilling of swimming pools is banned

While working his way through university, Colonel Michael J Kelly, AM (BA LLB, PhD) worked in several positions including as a storeman and packer at an oil refinery, as a cleaner at a veterans Hospital, and as a labourer with the Water Sewage and Drainage Board in Sydney. Upon graduation from university and the College of Law, Mike worked at a law firm in Sydney for three years fighting for the rights of injured workers, helping with campaigns for those suffering from asbestos related diseases in the very early days of those struggles. Mike joined the Army in 1987 and has extensive military experience including deployments in Somalia (for which he was awarded the Chief of the General Staff Commendation and made a Member of the Order of Australia for his contributions); with the International Red Cross in Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia; Kenya; East Timor; working with the SAS in Australia in the lead-up to the Sydney Olympics; and most recently, at the Headquarters Australian Theatre and in Iraq. He finished his military career as Director of Operations and International Law and Director of Army Legal Services in May 2007. Mike has been a regular speaker at military training programs and conferences around the world and is widely regarded as a leading expert on Operations Law, peace operations, post conflict reconstruction and counter insurgency issues. He has also published numerous articles and chapters in books on various military and legal subjects. Mike has a long family history in Eden-Monaro. His great great grandfather, Thomas Joseph Kelly, settled in Bega in 1865. Thomas went on to found the Bega Cheese factory and was its first chairman. Thomas married the daughter of Daniel Gowing, also a significant family in the region, and had many descendants who helped build the area as farmers, saw millers and teachers. Mike’s great grandfather, Benjamin George Kelly, ran for the seat of Eden-Monaro in 1940 and his grand uncle, Father John Kelly, was the parish priest in Bombala and Braidwood before becoming a Monsignor and the Inspector of Catholic Education for the region. Mike has many relatives still living and working in the Bega/Tanja area.
