Builders and tradespeople covered under the Home Building Act 1989 who undertake residential work where the labour content is worth more than $200 or undertake specialist work in NSW are required to be licenced. Advertisements relating to residential building that do not display a licence number imply that the labour content is no more than $200. All persons contracting to do specialist work as defined by the Home Building Act must be licenced.
