Infigen Energy are launching Australia-wide art competition for Global Wind Day this year. The art competition #myfuture, my choice is for students aged 7-18 years open now until 15 June.
Students can enter for free by uploading a photo showing what type of generation they want to choose for their future on Instagram or Facebook page or by sending an email to Infigen.
Winners will be chosen for 7-12 and 13-18 age groups and receive a Google Nexus 7 Tablet. Overall winner will also win a trip to a wind farm. Geoff Hannah was born in 1948 in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW and studied as an apprentice cabinetmaker from the age of fifteen before starting his own business in 1973. Awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 1980, Geoff travelled to England and France to study furniture from the period 1635–1850. Time spent in the workshops of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and the Palace of Versailles, France, were particular highlights of his study tour, as were his special privileges and after hours visits in the Louvre, Paris.
The Hannah Cabinet is Geoff Hannah's latest masterpiece and was made over a six year period using thirty-four different Australian and international timbers, four species of shell and seventeen varieties of precisious stone with extensive marquetry inlays on eighteen doors and on, and in, one hundred and forty drawers.
The Hannah Cabinet will be on show at the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery until 20 November 2013. |

In 2013, we celebrate 100 years since Lady Denman, wife of then Governor-General Lord Denman, stood upon the newly laid Foundation Stones and announced that the name of the new Australian capital would be Canberra.
The Centenary of Canberra is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate this momentous occasion in our country’s history and to explore the many facets — local, regional, national and international — of our nation’s capital.
The year-long program will include new and exciting projects, but equally it will showcase the very best of what’s already happening in Canberra each year — the people, the places, the events that contribute to Canberra’s role in our national story. The ambition behind this program is to create lasting legacies that will benefit generations of Australians to come and lead Canberra confidently into the journey of the next hundred years. |

We are often asked for assistance in finding out information pertaining to families who lived in the Bungendore area and unfortunately we are unable to help as there is no longer a Bungendore Historical Society in existence. However, anyone interested in discovering more about their family or the Bungendore area in general should contact the Canberra and District Historical Society which is situated in Canberra in the Curtin shopping area. They hold all of the old records of previous Bungendore Historical groups and the staff are very helpful. |

Unfortunately we no longer have a Visitors Centre in Bungendore. Please refer to the Bungendore Chamber of Commerce for all Visitor enquiries.
However, the Bungendore Village Guide is published each year
and is a terrific resource for visitors to Bungendore. These can be obtained from major Visitors Centres, smaller centres throughout NSW and many of the Canberra attractions. Please click on the link above for the pdf version. |

One of the highlights of living close to the nation's capital, is the wide range of museums, galleries, memorials and nature parks that one can visit. Around Canberra highlights all the major attractions that Canberra has to offer (and two museums in Queanbeyan). This has made it much easier for our family to pick an activity or centre to visit either on a weekend or during the school holidays.
